It is now time for great joy and anticipation

All the ‘ducks are lined up’ and our new Parish Priest, the Rev Fr Duncan Gorwood is almost on his way from the UK to All Saints’ Brisbane. Passports, Visas, inoculations, completed, the family dog, Poppy, approved for travel, packing and sorting has commenced and tickets purchased for Father Duncan and his wife Caroline and son Guy. His daughter Ellie is completing her university studies and will join the family later in the year. All that remains as far as we are concerned is that he will board his flight to Australia and arrive here on the Birthday of the Virgin Mary.

Fr Duncan qualified in Theology at Ripon College via University of Durham University and later qualifying with a Master’s Degree as a Head Teacher. He had a music qualification which enabled him to teach Music and then obtained his BMus in operatic studies. His last posting was as Assistant Curate, St John the Divine, Horninglow (Diocese of Litchfield).

The Commissioning Service will be set within Evensong and Benediction on Thursday 15 September 2022 at 6:30pm. The Regional Bishop Jeremy Greaves will commission Fr Duncan to this parish.

The Churchwardens would be grateful if those attending the service to advise the Parish. If you can suggest the names of persons, clergy or laity whom they might invite to this significant occasion to inform them as soon as possible so people have time to plan, particularly if they are travelling long distances.
